GE Cync

Sync GE Cync lights to your music

GE Cync bulbs are everywhere, and plenty of people already have a few. Here's how they do when the music comes on.

New to this? Start with our step-by-step guide: how to sync smart lights with music.

Why Cync is worth using

GE Cync bulbs are easy to find and good value, which is why they turn up in so many homes. They take colour changes reliably, so they fit straight into a room of mixed brands.

What to know before you start

Cync bulbs are steady rather than fast. In our testing they start to fall behind past two or three changes a second, much like LIFX. On a busy track, FirePod gives them fewer, bigger moves and leaves the rapid flashes to quicker lights like WiZ.

Like every Matter light, each bulb can only remember a limited number of apps and controllers. If a bulb won’t join anything new, it may already be paired to too many. Remove it from an app you don’t use, or reset it and start again.

Adding Cync bulbs with Matter

  1. Make sure the bulb supports Matter. Look for the Matter logo on the box.
  2. Add it in your smart home app with the code that came with it.
  3. If setup stalls on every device you try, check your router’s IPv6 setting. That was the cause in our home.

Cync with FirePod

FirePod plays your music over Bluetooth and moves every Matter light in the room to the same song. Your Cync bulbs can follow the beat right alongside your WiZ, Govee, LIFX and Hue lights.

Questions

Do GE Cync lights work with FirePod?

Yes. Cync bulbs that support Matter work with FirePod, along with lights from other brands.

Can I keep using the Cync app?

Yes. A Matter light can stay in the Cync app and your other smart home apps while FirePod runs it for the music.
