LIFX
Sync LIFX lights to your music
LIFX bulbs are the smoothest lights in our test room. When a song calls for a slow fade, they're the ones that really show it.
New to this? Start with our step-by-step guide: how to sync smart lights with music.
Why LIFX stands out
Most smart bulbs jump from one brightness to the next. LIFX bulbs actually fade. Ask one to dim over a fraction of a second and it glides down, where the other brands in our room either snap straight there or barely move. For softer songs and slow builds, that makes LIFX the best-looking light we have.
They also connect straight to Wi-Fi, so there’s no hub to buy before you can start.
What to know before you start
LIFX bulbs are smooth but not the fastest. In our testing they start to fall behind past two or three changes a second. On a fast track, FirePod gives them fewer, bigger moves and leaves the rapid flashes to quicker bulbs.
You might also notice LIFX listed as Feit Electric in some apps. Feit owns LIFX, and that’s the name in the official Matter registry. Nothing is wrong with your bulb.
Adding LIFX bulbs with Matter
- Make sure the bulb supports Matter. Look for the Matter logo on the box.
- Add it in your smart home app with the code that came with it.
- If it’s already set up in another app, open pairing mode from that app to get a fresh code.
LIFX with FirePod
FirePod plays your music over Bluetooth and moves every Matter light in the room together. LIFX bulbs get the smooth fades they’re good at, while faster lights handle the quick beats around them.
